Good News for a Sad Designer

The teacher I mentioned in this post about enlightening me to The Noun Project, the website I dedicated a challenge to, sent me an email today asking if I’d be willing to have the icons I designed for her class last semester be on display at my school’s fine arts building.

Hi [Tony],

I would like to include your journalism icon project in this year’s Student Art exhibit…

Best Regards, Prof. Barrett

It was the perfect pick-me-up for today because I haven’t been feeling 100%. The reason being that my uploads are still being “moderated” by the website so they aren’t live. I’ve been thinking, maybe since I have them up for royalties they aren’t going live because I don’t have a paid subscription.

The coin icon was the first one uploaded on March 17 and I’ve posted one icon every day after that.

I’ve decided to test the theory out. I’m going to upload an icon I designed for my class, the one at the top of this post, and have it be royalty-free so that I can see how long it takes the website to approve it.

But anyway, I responded to the email saying I’d be super excited to have my design displayed as a part of an exhibit. I’m sure there’s going to be other students’ work along with mine. I have to design a presentation piece that showcases the design and then I can submit it.

I’m going to write a post about when the design goes up so that’ll be some time in April.
